Absolutely true, but being on a social network is not nearly the same as relocating to one of the most expensive cities in the world. I think network effects are powerful, and I want to understand causality.

I agree that SF talent pool is just larger than other cities, but I'm fascinated to understand *why*. If Lambda continues to grow by reputation etc, at some point, the talent pools will grow in other markets, and wouldn't it be neat if that caused more startups in other markets?

To be clear, 85% of our employees are outside the Bay Area, but I see no feasible way to replace the 15% elsewhere

I think the most interesting long-term experiment of remote work is whether some sliver of your 85% can become enough like the 15% to build new startup economies across the US.
