Is this done with hope of a monetary return of some sort?
-
Struggling to determine whether it would create sense of ownership or a sense of support. I’m working on a new mentorship platform if you’re interested.

Maybe if someone started a school that invested in it's students with no payback until they're hired kinda setup. Something like that would be a good start. -

I've wanted this for artists for awhile. The fact that we're still having trouble getting media made from some of the most beloved artists is baffling.
-
Patreon is a cool mechanism that works fairly well
-
I definitely appreciate Patreon and Kickstarter, they've changed things for the better certainly. We just need to cut out the middle man (so we don't need to give a company a 5+% cut).
-
Totally, an open source version would be rad
-
I'd like easy investment in revenue shares available like
@PlayFig and@Indiegogo have tried but with a quick path for creators that doesn't involve a lot of regulatory overhead. Limits to accredited investors or JOBS act overhead are preventing fan ownership from taking off -
Interesting idea, on one hand it'd be cool to give artists more opportunity to have money but on the other hand I'm not a fan of wealth extraction systems
-
Well I view it from the lens of artists or small conpanies retaining control. Raise for a low budget movie from large investors or studios and they likely demand control. Sell 50% of revenue up front to a widespread fanbase at low outlay per investor and the dynamic changes.
-
Yeah fair that's not a bad plan, basically democratizing investment. As long as we live in capitalism it'd be a good idea to let people help each other like that. I worry that the potential for scammers is high but that's the same as kickstarter etc
