@tommycollison is the pride of the family.
I dropped out, worked on building sites, went back, and now work for an amazing company which was founded by billionaire college drop outs who apparently still strive for their parents respect. Parents are weird I self-diagnose as such.

Haha, wasn’t referring to *those* billionaire college dropouts, but certainly Tommy is the pride of the family regardless :)

I take it all back so. I swear your parents didn’t say anything,

idunno how your billionaire friends feel but my dropout peers are disheartened by this. They found success and happiness but their parents never express pride, only shame
-
heavy relate. parents were upset and disappointed that i didn’t want to go back to school after dropping out. the only way to get their affirmation and acceptance was to eventually go back to school

As someone who was homeschooled and has yet to attend college, I didn’t feel like I had “arrived” until I got a job at Microsoft. Once that happened the fear/uncertainty/doubt I got from family and friends no longer stuck.

One day I think my mom will give up but she still is pretty sure that my career could really take off if I just hunkered down and gritted through that bachelor’s. No matter how many schools I start, still gotta get that stamp from one.

I guess they'll have to get their Doctorates the old fashioned way: honorary after they buy the university a Library.

That's a tiny circle given the typical equity % founders have, the number of $10B+ companies, the % of founders being dropouts, plus the adjustment for children of foreign-born parents being the most likely to be disappointed.

Nope. See..... Life is a great realistic video game. If your born with all the cheat codes ($Rich AF$), then you will likely never gain the respect of the people who ACTUALLY played the full "game" and made the money. Its like a lemon falling off an apple tree..... Usually.
