I'm perplexed by some reactions to Bezos' $2b fund. TLDR:
Bezos, the top capital allocator of our time, shouldn't decide how his $2b is allocated. The government, which is demonstrably bad at spending, should handle this.
Sincerely,

Yeah, I wish govt allocated better, but that's separate from my wish that people could allocate their resources however they want (so long as it's legal).

The govt’s role is often to complement where there’s market failure in the private sector. Many of the things it spends money on are inherently *not* profitable; they’re public goods.

Galaxy brain: let markets work wherever they can. Turns out there are a lot of market failures! Whether a govt intervention is better is often an impossible counteractial or has too many Co founds, so we tweet about it. 1/

Henry Ford was pretty hot in making sure how workers had enough money. Pretty sure he wasn't anti capitalist, so the two things do seem to go together well.
