I would say this applies to the United States in general a full time worker make minimum wage anywhere in the United States can not afford a home. Unless you were speaking about middle class Americans which are disappearing as well. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1&ei=DxiZW8C9DomDk-4P7tSy0As&ins=true&q=full+time+minimum+wage&oq=full+time+minimum+wage&gs_l=mobile-gws-wiz-serp.12..0i71l5.0.0..29201...0.0..0.0.0.......0.Sq9j20_frDU …

I’m talking about people making six figures in the Bay Area
-
But still can not afford to live off one income right? as much money as they make it’s still not enough it’s only relative to where you live and it’s surprising that it’s pretty much the same situation for someone making minimum wage everything is just nicer and cleaner I suppose

Exactly right. Daycare in SF is $2,800/mo. We’re considering having a 2nd kid, daycare then doubles to $5,600/mo. 1 BR apartment is $3,300. $9k/mo just to exist. Not cheap, even when your wife and you make $100k+. That said it’s a much more fun challenge than suburbs (easy mode!)

This also helps to explain some of the bias at the top levels of the Valley. What do the dads do in the few families that can afford stay at home moms? They're VCs. This directly impacts their perception of what women want / need and perpetuates harmful issues.
-
Are you saying men supporting wives' staying at home "perpetuates harmful issues"? I can't see any other way to read this statement
-
No. Most VCs work on all male teams (except for admin / office mgr). When pitched by women, they say, "I have to ask my wife" --- eg their understanding of women and women's role in society is as a stay at home parent. It's not inclusive or realistic. 70% of US moms work.

Just started work at a new company (in Austin). Onboarding with about 30 people, 5 of them had just moved from SV for exactly this reason.

Then the powers that be import more workers since people already here can't afford to have kids. Hey, it works for the powers that be...the wealthy.
