Have talked to several people in recent weeks who want to come to the US, bring millions of dollars, start companies, and hire a bunch of people. The fact that *they* find it next-to-impossible to get a visa boggles my mind. Why would we ever want to keep someone like that out?

It's a shame that can't come here. But at the same time it's those types of people who move to San Francisco, buy homes and end up pricing everyone else out of the market. Can they start their companies in other parts of the country?

There are pretty clear systemic advantages to the Bay Area which is why both you and I are here

Yeah. Not disagreeing. Just wish those advantages were democratized across the country to other parts that need it as well.

I thought it was a bit easier to move to the US than Canada. Anyone can start a US company (e.g. Stripe Atlas), and your company can sponsor an H1B or O1 visa if you make enough money. But you can't start a company in Canada unless you're a citizen or permanent resident.

Would love to know if there's another way to move to Canada as a solo founder. I've enjoyed bootstrapping and going at my own pace, so I don't really want to give up any equity or find a cofounder. But I would like to move to Canada one day.
