At the same time, there are a lot of less-than-millionaires who can figure it out. What does that say about those millionaires.

They figure it out, it’s just hard enough some end up starting companies in Canada
-
It's a shame that can't come here. But at the same time it's those types of people who move to San Francisco, buy homes and end up pricing everyone else out of the market. Can they start their companies in other parts of the country?
-
There are pretty clear systemic advantages to the Bay Area which is why both you and I are here
-
Yeah. Not disagreeing. Just wish those advantages were democratized across the country to other parts that need it as well.

> bring millions of dollars Sounds like they are very much eligable for this visa.https://www.uscis.gov/eb-5
-
Yes, but even then it’s not a sure thing
-
No VISA is a sure thing. And processing takes a lot of time, seems to be very inefficiently handled.
-
We should be *begging* for folks like that to come over
-
Yeah, maybe they can fix the slow as molasses VISA process. ;)

I've had several different kinds of US visas (for residency) since the 1970s and can assure you the process was just as slow under Jimmy Carter as it Was Bush senior. It has nothing to do with the guy on top, unless he overhauls the slow gov system.
-
Slowing down and them not being to come in at all might be two different problems but I would bet they can’t come in at all depending what country they are from of course the odds of them coming in at all are even less!

If they are actually bringing *millions* of dollars with the intention of hiring a bunch of people, they should have little trouble getting an investor visa: https://www.uscis.gov/eb-5 There are immigration attorneys who actually specialize in such cases

What is the most compelling counter argument? When something boggles your mind, a productive course is to seek out the most compelling counter argument. If one doesn't exist, construct it. Do it diligently. Objectively, stripped of bias and using a valid logical construct.

They might be terrorists. Or have brown skin. They're the same thing, right?

Good illustration. Excellent job of laying out his argument by Noah. Tucker should have done this instead. We would have less noise & better signal if both sides of our political circus simply had the objectivity and work ethic to understand the other.https://twitter.com/Noahpinion/status/1038804936757133312 …
