I’m growing more and more convinced that Amazon has just won. Only thing stopping it now is antitrust. It’s over.

I think about this like every week now. Amazon's so large that it's interesting to think about what they AREN'T doing. Where is Amazon's Squarespace or Shopify clone? Seems like a no-brainer to let people build their sites/ brands on Amazon, leverage AWS and Amazon fulfillment.

Feels like this is only true in the US. Aliababa and JD still dominate in China.

Although, with Jack Ma resigning from Alibaba all of a sudden, things might not be great there. It would be as if Bezos suddenly left Amazon.

Microsoft survived (and thrived) with Bill Gates gone. My personal opinion is $baba will be fine.

This guy is a OG fixture in the watch community, and has been deliberately weening himself off Amazon because they squeeze their own sellers. I wouldn't call it yet. Ultimately sellers matter, and Amazon (and eBay) treat theirs like garbage.https://youtu.be/QWOeBCwmY-A

They’ve won eretail/supply chain and cloud computing, but honestly they haven’t even figured out optimization of their own product pages yet. There’s another round of consumerism yet to be played in which they have the upper hand, but they certainly haven’t solved everything.

I read “eretail” as “entrails”. Not entirely incorrect and still legit.

What is Amazon’s succession plan after Bezos? Only tech company from last century to still have founding CEO. Great for medium-longterm, bad for long-longterm. Also, think amazon will see unprecedented competition from Walmart and Chinese companies in decade ahead.

I dont think Amazon is in any danger after Jeff B goes,he has built a strong enough 2nd and 3rd level leaders who will seamlessly take it forward, ofcourse there will be some hiccups but i guess entire Amazon has Jeff's DNA imbibed

Amazon winning generic everyday products like office supplies and other basic items where quality isn’t that important. If you want specialty items then niche websites or local shops are the way they go.

I love Amazon for many things but I’ve had deteriorating experiences with them and would look elsewhere. I think the comprehensive retail experience is struggling at that scale. They set the bar for delivery though.
