Do you teach employment contract negotiation in Lambda?
-
This feels like a delicate space. I've seen several tech skills-based grads negotiate *too* high of a wage and it backfires as they're looking for new work in 3-4 weeks. I'm not saying this will be the case with Lambda. I am saying it's a thing. Find that sweet spot.

But yes, along with interviewing and other basic/softer skills, this is important stuff for career development.

I’ve never asked for a higher salary ever. I’ve always been too scared. I’ll probably need a huge push when it comes to that.

And even crazier when you think about how it stacks/compounds because 401k, matching, bonus, and raises all now start higher.

Yep! If an offer makes you say, “Wow, that’s a strong offer—I don’t want to mess it up by negotiating.”, that’s a good time to stop and reevaluate your own estimate of the value of your skills. “Let’s negotiate and see how much my skill set is worth to them.” is a good response.
