Sadly I think you’re wrong. Some people do disagree on principle but choose to hide behind the “misunderstanding”.

Sure, but it’s more nuanced/systemic than that. Many dispute that it’s happening, or say it’s only bc black people “are more violent”, commit more crimes than others, etc. Also many who believe it should stop, but prioritize that below “not thinking about it during the game”.

True but how many would say that racial profiling is Ok and that cops who put their life on the line should shoot first and ask questions later?

They would disagree on whether or not it’s a problem and whether or not something needs to be done about.
-
They chose to perceive it differently because somehow they picked up the idea that racism doesn’t exist in America and explain away in their minds any evidence that it does.
-
They would absolutely disagree on whether or not these killings are racially motivated.
-
They would also disagree on who is considered “an innocent black person”
-
Many would rather assume that there was reasonable cause to use lethal force any time a cop kills someone because they can’t handle the idea that sometimes cops murder people because of racism.
-
So all of these people must not be innocent because a surely a cop wouldn’t have killed them otherwise.
-
There is definitely disagreement on whether or not “America is still racist”https://twitter.com/walshfreedom/status/1036755128584429570?s=21 …

Yep. That gets to the heart of the ridiculousness of this. Problem is, we won’t talk about the actual statistically significant issues..ever.
