My Ukrainian friends are having a giant debate right now about vaccines, healthcare standards during the Soviet Union, and whether the CIA used vaccines to brainwash people during the USSR. Also whether they should be arguing in Russian or Ukrainian Facebook is great!

I learned Russian by reading books. I can read cyrillic. I don't understand any of it. I was mostly curious about the combinatorial nature of the language as well its linguistic intricacies.....

I can speak quite a few phrases fluently. Which initially shocks Russians, til they realize those are the only words I can say fluently. Russians touch the roof of the mouth right behind the alveolar ridge. So weird...so awkward.....

Haha ya, the ь and soft sounds generally are what give away most American speakers (or ы or р). You can tell how well a non-native speaker can speak after one только.
