In 3.5 years, I moved up from $15/hr to $60k per year. No degree, no experience. And no experience in ANYTHING, not just my field. Housewife before that. You have to work hard and be very stubborn. And get a little lucky.

In my experience stories do a far better job at reassuring people of that than statistics. The problem is that as long as something is uncommon statistics will make it seem “unlikely” - even if the organization in question doesn’t care about it at all.
