Also, if you use Gmail and chrome, you can right click on the browser tab and choose "pin". It hides the number of unread emails in your inbox.

For this one I go back to work after 8pm and work a few hours. Or I rent a hotel room and work in solitude there. Neither are optimal solutions, but they work.
