Ohh no. This is a Crowley style crossroads demon bargain.
Step into my office for a minute. Let’s break this down...https://twitter.com/austenallred/status/1017565091036708864 …
If they’re paying $50k in Boston we would encourage you not to take that job!

The hard thing is that in many rural areas a $50k job is enough to buy a great house and live very comfortably forever, so we have to have pricing inclusive of rural areas. But in Boston our average salary is $90k!
-
Hold up. Your saying someone who graduated from your ~7 month program, without a traditional 4 year degree and no professional coding experience, should expect $90K as a base starting salary? In Boston? Did I understand you correctly?
-
That’s not what I say should happen, that’s what our data says has happened in Boston
-
Either you need to hire a new Data Analyst, or I need to ask my boss for a raise.
-
You have a degree? How long have you been programming for s living? Not trying to be facetious here, it’s very likely you could get paid that in Boston now. Especially if you’re a strong negotiator.
-
I have the academic and industry creds to back me up, but we’re not talking about “me” here. We’re talking about the students whom you will be setting up with unrealistic expectations and a tithe of 17% of their annual salary (starting at $50).
-
Anyway... I’m at work now. Gotta get back to earning my keep, cause as I said... Boston is expensive.

Damn, bro... we never even went out for a beer. We lived within our frugal AF budget and STILL came up short.
