A friend told me about Raven's Progressive Matrices which seem like a good way to fight ESL bias. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raven%27s_Progressive_Matrices …

However, haven't there also been studies that show that IQ isn't a good indicator for future success?
-
One of the most widely replicated findings in psychology is IQ being positively correlated with almost every positive outcome you can think of. The "positive manifold". There are things that don't correlate with IQ, though.

We can iterate & improve the administration and methodologies employed in IQ testing. We can never seem to improve culture.

Two things about this article. It seems the new method still incorporated objective factors which somewhat taints the study a bit. Second, Broward County is incredibly corrupt. I’d love to see a pure study removing all opinions and biases in a larger sample size.

But the study probably is onto something in terms of minorities and financially burdened kids being at an unfair disadvantage

I agree in general, but this research doesn't really show that the teachers were "biased," just that they failed to informally lower standards for certain groups ("plan B") as much as policy makers said they should.
