I’d bet the average person would be better off with one year of college and three years of unpaid internships than four years of college and four years of student loans

You may be talking past each other. If it’s three separate one year internships then they will be screened out for job hopping (eng may be unique exception). If it’s three years at one place then they’ll have a good shot. I too do this for a living

Ya, I assumed 3 diff internships. I'm also very skeptical of college dropouts (ivy and Stanford and top 10 liberal arts excluded) getting internships at age 19. Rare they'd get into a large professional or corporate organization.

I don’t know how it goes outside tech, but a Stanford dropout who got internships (esp if at prestigious tech cos) at 19 will be able to find a job in 10min for their entire life
