I’d bet the average person would be better off with one year of college and three years of unpaid internships than four years of college and four years of student loans

Average person or average IT person? There's no reason that in the 21st century we should have unpaid internships, it's unrealistic and unsustainable. There is a market for lending money to students of blue collar trades and internships. Better odds than for-profit colleges.

So, to be clear, having a student pay for college is more sustainable than having a student not pay for an internship

I meant that loans for internships and trade should be available for living expenses for unpaid internships or trade schools bc that's needed. Unpaid internships could be good investments. Actual experience is great. &Micro loans for certification could help for short term needs.
