Try reading a defense of Harvard’s admissions process but every time you see “Asians” think “women” and see how well the same arguments would go over

Here’s one rebuttal I’m mulling.https://twitter.com/ibjiyongi/status/1007981908523749376?s=21 …

Implying that Asians Americans "overrepresent" compared to their proportion in the general population to justify the rebuttal is laughable. Too many Asian Americans work fucking hard all their lives to be in that position to dominate the applicant pool.
-
Also, "overrepresent" line of thinking is very ironical from people who claim decisions shouldn't be made based on race & personal feelings about a race. This is the racial quota system that they should want to oppose. I agree they shouldn't be made based on race.

I'll offer a few counterpoints without putting my words in the mouth of an objective Martian. The Martian doesn't seem to notice, for example, that historical redlining, and current local property tax based school funding, has put black Americans in areas with worse K-12 schools.

A better prepared earthling would argue Affirmative Action is an imperfect counterbalance to *current* systemic injustice, which afflicts some groups more than others. Also might point out that diversity in the top ranks of society is more important than on college campuses.
-
To be clear, I'm not defending the original Harvard admissions policy toward Asians; just pointing out how much this piece leans on straw man arguments and feigned objectivity.
