While I’ve got you—would you rather be joining Lambda School after a couple years of college or straight out of high school? Let’s assume those couple years come with a luxury car worth of debt in Stafford loans.
-
The less debt the better, but so long as someone is scrappy and gritty we’ll accept either
-
To rephrase—if you could go back in time and Lambda school already existed, knowing what you know now, would you go to college at all or just go to Lambda school?
-
Just Lambda School. My college experience was largely a waste of time relative to how much I learned in industry
-
Not even for the people/network you met there?
-
This is what I grapple with most—I met my girlfriend and many of my best friends at college. I think your opinion is probably the prevailing one among smart people I know in technology. Yet lots met cofounders and/or loved ones at college.

I know you think about this a lot. But if you can’t replace the secondary effects of college (which are usually the primary lasting value in your life) you can’t really compare the two experiences on a level playing field.
