If I wanted to build a city from scratch, what book would help me learn what I should consider/optimize for?

I really liked: Lectures on Urban Economics by Jan K. Brueckner https://www.amazon.com/Lectures-Urban-Economics-MIT-Press/dp/0262016362 … Read it in my urban economics class. Favorite econ class of my undergrad. The book is kind of anti-urban planning, pro market forces. Or at least my 60-year-old professor made it out to be.

Also recommend Triumph of the City by Edward Glaeser. More about the history of cities in the US and the agglomeration economies that cause them to exist. https://www.amazon.com/Triumph-City-Greatest-Invention-Healthier/dp/0143120549/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1528350277&sr=1-1&keywords=triumph+of+the+city+edward+glaeser …

They're not books, but I take it you read City Lab and Inhabitat? And check out both of Richard Florida's books (Rise of the Creative Class and The New Urban Crisis).
