I'm shocked at how many applications Lambda School gets that look like this: "I got a near-perfect score on the SATs, passed math/science classes with above 100%, but just couldn't force myself to care about some classes and ended up failing out." The number is remarkable.

When it is a class and that class is required to graduate I think would be reason enuf to whomp up a bit of interest for selfish reasons if nothing else.

It ought to be, but then some are more easily distracted than others and where once it was library book or comic book, today the distractions are more numerous.

Dear, I've been a teacher, tutor and setter-upper of special educ programs for 30+ years and coddling is coddling. Perhaps teaching about how to focus is in order. And those unwilling to do the work can find their economic path forward on their own.
