In the beginning I thought for sure we had failed him; the fact that he hadn't paid tuition didn't help anything, he still wasn't hired. But he was still willing to put in the work, our careers team was ready to do anything they could, and that's really all it takes.

Of course, but I was curious in what ways. I know that interviewers are often looking for certain signals, but often don’t find them in early stage developers, so they don’t make the hire.
