  2. 14 September 1937 | A German Jewish boy, Günther Willi Aron, was born in Essen. He arrived at on 5 November 1943 in a transport of 1,000 Jews deported from ghetto in Riga. He was among 850 of them murdered in gas chambers after the selection.

  12. In Birkenau bombs (visible in the image) damaged the railroad embankment and the connecting track to the crematoria. At the chemical plant bombs made a lot of damage. Ca. 300 people were killed, among them many prisoners who worked there.

  13. 13 September 1944 | The Allies bombed the IG Farbenindustrie chemical plant located near the German Nazi Auschwitz camp for 13 minutes. Some bombs fell at the sites of Auschwitz I & Auschwitz II-Birkenau. 40 prisoners & 15 SS men were killed. Many people were wounded.
