In Birkenau bombs (visible in the image) damaged the railroad embankment and the connecting track to the crematoria. At the chemical plant bombs made a lot of damage. Ca. 300 people were killed, among them many prisoners who worked there.pic.twitter.com/0XLuYSx6Rf

13 September 1944 | The Allies bombed the IG Farbenindustrie chemical plant located near the German Nazi Auschwitz camp for 13 minutes. Some bombs fell at the sites of Auschwitz I & Auschwitz II-Birkenau. 40 prisoners & 15 SS men were killed. Many people were wounded.pic.twitter.com/JbLmvluJH7
