Please stop diminishing the atrocities Jewish ppl suffered during the Holocaust. They were hardworking members of the society they resided in, not illegally trying to enter into other countries to take advantage of their good will.
-
1) You're replying to a museum that researches and archives Jewish holocaust history, and a quote from a holocaust survivor. Stay in your lane. 2) Illegally residing in other countries and taking advantage of their goodwill is literally what Nazis said Jews were doing
-
3) Judaism *requires* me to welcome the stranger, give aid to those in need and treat refugees exactly as I treat citizens. If comparing the atrocities taking place at the border to the Shoah is what it takes to get that to happen, then by all means, compare away.

That was supposed to morph into a heart like it does on Facebook. LOL.

My 22 year old American son got into it with Nazis in the streets of Rome tonight. No one else said a word or did a thing. The Italians told him to turn the other cheek and not let bad people bother him. Which is how 6 million Jews ended up dead. Nazis.Italy. Tonight.

Hope he is okay, Ma'am?

As a Jewish American, I wrote a blog after Pittsburgh on this exact topic. We can stop hate in its tracks if we stop it at discrimination and bias, not wait for it to reach genocide. This requires us to see each other as human instead of dehumanize:http://www.listenfirstproject.org/listen-first-blog/2018/11/2/the-flames-of-hate-and-how-i-cope-in-the-smoke …

Sadly many people have no problem with oppression until it infringes on them. What they don’t realize is by then it’s too late.

Paraphrasing Niemöller 1st they came for socialists, I didn't speak out 'cos I wasn't one They came for unionists, I didn't speak out 'cos I wasn't one They came for the Jews, I didn't speak out 'cos I wasn't one Then they came for me -there was no one left to speak for me

Here’s a link to Maurice Ogden’s “The Hangman”, which we used in our middle school Holocaust History unit. https://worksheets.edhelper.com/poetry/The_Hangman_by_Maurice_Ogden.htm …

Thank you Joe. I’ve never seen this poem before but it is very powerful. This should be required reading in all schools.
