    Two APD Officers are facing criminal charges for their alleged misconduct in the handling of a suspect. Police Officer John Haubert is facing charges for his handling of a suspect. Officer Francine Martinez is being charged for her failure to intervene on behalf of the suspect.

    Recognizing Hispanic Women Attended and spoke at the Hispanic Woman’s Awards 2021 event yesterday afternoon at the Stampede Club in Aurora. It was a great event, impressive award recipients, and I enjoyed watching the traditional dances (see photo).

    First Responder Visits Just got back from going out on patrol with a District III police officer.  Fortunately, there were no major incidents while I was out today.  As always, It was great to hear directly from our police officers about their challenges… (1/2)

    Pastor Shawn Sikkema This morning, I spent time with Pastor Shawn Sikkema from Jesus on Colfax Ministries.  Pastor Sikkema has been doing some amazing work in ministering to the homeless as well as to the struggling families staying in the motels along Colfax. (1/2)

    7/20 Memorial This morning I walked through the city's memorial to the victims of the horrific mass shooting that occurred on this day in our city nine years ago.  The memorial garden is a solemn remembrance of the 13 lives that were tragically lost on July 20th, 2012. (1/2)
