As a Canadian, I have a difficult time understanding these sentences. They seem redundant. Why not simply a life sentence with no chance of parole? I ask honestly with no political agenda.
It is because he was charged and convicted for multiple crimes. The Life w/o parole is the sentence for the 1st degree murder charge; but he was also convicted of numerous other charges with penalties totaling an additional 419 years.
