    Being divorced I don’t get my son on Mother’s Day but we always stop to buy her favorite flowers before I drop him off. He knows although we’re not together we both love him and appreciate each other. It’s not about the parents. It’s about raising kids correctly.

    Free and formerly enslaved black people made their way to the thriving hamlet that offered a school, a church and a newspaper that published the alphabet, reading lessons and prayers. The community produced doctors, journalists and educators.

    Two weeks. Two students killed tackling shooters in their classrooms. The families of Kendrick Castillo and Riley Howell should be planning for their futures, not funerals. This is devastating. Our leaders owe it to them to take action.
