Night went how it needed to go with one big, glaring, soul-stomping exception. Not sure where Kris goes from here... How's old RBG feeling? Going to make it four more years, honey? We've got a legal eagle here who's looking for some useful work. Looks great in a black robe!

Trump doesn't seem very happy with the current head of DHS, and with a bigger Senate majority, Kris Kobach is suddenly much more confirmable.

It's obvious now that Kobach isn't presidential material—not yet anyway. So he'll be more use to the world at DHS than in Topeka. If Trump picks him.

Trump really could have used Kobach in D.C. from Day 1. I'll be very surprised if Kobach doesn't surface in D.C. sooner rather than later.
