@AuSenate Quick question please......technically, can the Prime Minister be a Senator and sit in the Senate or must they be in the House? Is there a constitutional reference for this? Thanks.
Technically, yes: a senator could be PM, but by convention, no, because (by Westminster practice) the government, through its Prime Minister, is responsible to the Lower House. There's no constitutional reference, because the PM is not mentioned in the Constitution
