Perhaps we should also focus on decreasing the complexity. For example imagine orchestrating an arrest team in theatre when one doesn't know most of their names. #TheatreCapChallenge https://wp.me/p8r3e4-vm pic.twitter.com/FTdT6svfVM

My wife is part of WHO team on iKMC in Delhi govt hospital. Your checklist seaps everywhere to bring profound results. Awesome Talk sir.
Good. How to sustain the gains and prevent regression to the mean is the question.
Thank you for all of your contributions to improving healthcare and for the betterment of humanity - God bless you
Thanks for sharing this Dr Gawande
Good to get independent assessment in operating theatre? Also good on Twitter: your TED talk was biased. You imply that UP study was success, but results are at best mixed: it failed to improve mortality rate. Maybe dirty gloves soaked in bleach are just as good as clean gloves?
Have you read the discussion? Many important messages there re limits of such a studyhttp://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1701075 …
Thanks for pointing me to the Discussion section of the study - I hadn't read it, but it is fascinating. Shame that it didn't make it to the TED talk. Science progresses most when someone says, "Hmmm... thats odd. Why didn't my experiment get the result I expected"
Discussion says, "the staff members collecting the majority of outcome data were unaware of the facility assignments". But is this still true when we consider only the rosy checklist-adherance data? Coaches obviously want to show they are effective, maybe they lean on observers
Thank you @Atul_Gawande , you inspired me to action. I will be working with a coach in 2018 and really looking forward to the growth and reflection. Happy New Year!
Dr. Gawande is consistently brilliant .
Never disappointed in hearing you!!! You make so much sense and do it in such an uncomplicated way. Thank you Atul!
Just the beginning with digital world!!!
This has made my day! Thank you.
Powerful talk highlighting power of coaching especially with communication skills. I got astonishing insights observing @JeremyRawlins team in KCMC and we are seeing great results with our @MADEinHEENE coaching service
Atul your favourite Bollywood Actor?
