The original GOP bill, which was withdrawn on March 24, would have: 1. Cut spending on health care programs by $1.2 trillion dollars.
-
-
-
2. Made largest cuts in Medicaid, by capping spending & ending entitlement to coverage for everyone from kids to elders in nursing homes.
-
3. Replaced individual mandate with 30% premium surcharge if you have a 63 day gap in coverage.
-
4. Cut insurance subsidies and shifted them from being income based to age based.
-
5. Allowed insurers to charge older people up to 5X more than younger people.
-
6. Provided a $900M tax cut for the wealthiest 2%.
-
7. But at least still maintained pre-ex protections and minimum benefit standards (maternity, mental health).
-
That the GOP preserves Obamacare for themselves while shoving Trumpcare through for the rest of us tells you all you need to know.

In might not be feasible given the GOP, but as an immigrant to Canada I can't express how strongly I support single Payer.

There is no insurance against the immorality of this action. It is a preexisting condition!

Yet a majority of the House GOP voted for it. Maybe the story should be what's wrong with those who voted for it not what's wrong with bill?

A travesty the very congressman who voted it in are exempt from-who also voted without a CBO analysis. So sickening.
