"Republican state attorneys general are arguing in a Texas courtroom to kill the ACA, including its rule on pre-existing conditions. Trump supports the effort, arguing in a brief that the protection for the chronically ill must go down with the rest of the law..."

"...This position unmasks Trump ’s lie that he was fighting to preserve insurance for pre-existing conditions. When asked how people like me are supposed to obtain insurance, these politicians shrug, trotting out failed past ideas or promising the free market will provide."

The day I went on Medicare I was bicycling home from work and noticed that I was feeling less anxious. Although I had been safely insured through emplyment my entire life, I had the thought, "Now they can't take it away from me." The rest of the ride was a breeze.

I’m currently in this scenario. I’m a Family Medicine Physician. I also have MS. I want to open my own practice because I cannot keep up with the demands of being an employed physician anymore, but I need an employer for health insurance. I spend $40K/yr in medical bills.

My life since 1971, when I was diagnosed with a rare chronic disease. Luckily, I've mostly been stable (& therefore cheap to insure), but that doesn't matter. I've been uninsured (completely), but another time, was lucky enough to continue insurance thru Cobra.
