I still do not understand why affordable health care coverage for everyone is taking away someone’s freedom - makes absolutely no sense and any one of us or someone we love could be diagnosed with a devastating illness.

Ahem...I’ll just leave this (http://ChangeHealth.today ) right here. Hint: give people their own money to buy their own care.

As long as healthcare remains a fountain of revenue feeding corporate profitability, this will remain a fact of economic life in America. If ALL ESSENTIAL healthcare becomes not-for-profit that may change but not before. (Private, concierge & cosmetic wud still be profitable.)

It is ALL about the inflated/fantasy prices of healthcare driven by hospitals and third parties. Access is not a problem when there are real alternatives.

Fair to say unhindered cost increases not linked to improving patient/community outcomes is not sustainable?

Important, but misleading way to state the problem? For clarity, 10.7% of all Americans are uninsured (many of whom are young and healthy), but people in poor health struggle with affordability. Right?pic.twitter.com/iueCV7aLcF

The ultimate irony is the inability to pay by those who work in healthcare fields- insurance companies, pharma or device manufacturers. Those who are profiting the most are recognizing the incredible cost to keep their employees insured- so they can afford their own care/products

We found similar issues in a pop-based survey of colorectal cancer patients--8 months after diagnosis, 45% of those who had been working did not retain their jobs. https://ja.ma/2LdAsuP 62% reported at least 1 of 7 major indicators of financial burden.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4270346/ …

Can we move beyond the obvious, identify the problem and tackle it? This sounds like 2009 all over again.

at least 80% of all households have some debt and credit card debt is rising again...so a good portion of those people are probably just an illness away from some serious financial consequences
