Not to mention, sickness is what makes many people poor. I saw a man who was filing bankruptcy because his heart attack had incapacitated him from running his decades old business. He was losing everything.

But . . . as a practical matter, Medicaid clients tend to be the working poor or people in LTC. they are either working or unable to do so.

Truth: there are people on Medicaid who can work. Truth: there are people who do not qualify for Medicaid b/c they work and have no insurance. Truth: provide heatlhcare to everyone and stop quibbling about who gets what.

My husband was very ill & could not work; Medicaid is a blessing to people who need it. Unfortunately, I also know people who abuse the system & lie. These people make it hard to get & maintain the coverage needed. It’s a slap in the face to those who really need it.
