I don’t think it takes away from the gender disparity angle. I’ve gotten one significant raise in 20 years and both Amy’s were well under market. But as a white male, it’s easier to find employment, negotiate that raise, and be taken seriously. Similar narrative; more privilege.

I’ve long held the suspicion while working in tech that “Working in Tech” is actually really shitty. I think all the toys and fake perks are actually a huge red flag to cover up for all the nastiy pettiness and white nerd resentment. No I don’t want to play fucking foosball chad.
