@AlanZucconi Ok so i'm finally implementing your cd shader. It looks nice, and cool rainbow function!!! I was getting really blue results and noticed that you were as well. If I'm not mistaken, your function returns sRGB colors, so need to be converted to linear before use.
Do you have any info or tips on that? Thanks so much for the awesome articles!!

I'm getting likes, so for folks who aren't aware, go check out this awesome series on iridescence Alan wrote up.https://www.alanzucconi.com/2017/07/15/the-nature-of-light/ …

Hey Alan! A few others have mentioned this, but I never really looked into it until now. Following your suggestion, I made this! L: color += spectral_zucconi6(wavelength); R: color += pow(spectral_zucconi6(wavelength),2.2); Does it look more natural to you now?

You're right, there's no actual energy conversation. Firstly, because I build this reflection on top of the standard shader (which already takes that into account). So this iridescent comes on top of the maximum albedo allowed by energy conservation.
-
But the *real* issue is that I am looping through all the visibile wavelengths to get this iridescent reflection. In reality, I should be checking how much of each wavelength that contributes to the reflection was present in the spectrum of the original light source.

For the sRGB/RGB issue do you think I should convert the original image I have used as a reference and re-run the entire optimisation thing?
Also! If you end up using some of this in your project, would be super awesome having a mentioned or thanks in the credits!

The difference in your image is pretty tiny. In mine it was a lot more noticeable. Maybe worth a 1 sentence mention at least? ::shrug:: FWIW it's for a "sample" but not anything shipped. I have the link to your tutorials in it :)

Ohhh now I'm curious about what we've done differently!
Any chance you send me the shader snipped you've changed or an out-of-context image of the effect? -
actually yeah i should be able to sanitize something!

I'm just curious about the iridescence bit of the shader code!
