    Fascinating how many Amazon defenders come out of the woodwork when you say something like "they lose money on e-retail sales". Which is fine. But what's not fine is how many have drunk kool-aid which Amazon used 15 years ago and has aged badly.

    Good managers and leaders minimize how annoying they are to follow. They can be demanding, but not demeaning. Effective, but w/ respect. Here's my list of top annoyances from Making Things Happen, chp. 10: How Not To Annoy People (yes that's the actual chapter title)

    As a result, they train viewers to ignore any claims to have done something significant. Why? Because the fact they didn’t give any support to what would be a significant claim suggests it’s smoke and mirrors. 3/3

    IF Tide has a dramatic new breakthrough formula that includes a superb stain remover so you you can get oily snack stuff on a light colored shirt and ignore it for days, then they have a once in a lifetime breakthrough. Advertise. The. Breakthrough. They didn’t. 2/

    We’ve seen “mash up” ads in the SB before. But what’s with the cluttered “Tide” ads? And the strangely odd “later” idea... From what I could gather (as an ad guy), Tide thinks it does something so you don’t have to wash right away. Huh. And who believes that? More execution fail.

    Huh. Google just put on their ad that says “we know more about your life than you do.” Probably truth telling. But... I’m not sure their creative team was thinking too clearly. Besides, old and infirm doesn’t seem a great addition to the Google brand.

    Well... At least they’ve figure out that turning the lights a different color wasn’t important. Then, again, there still isn’t much to say about what’s valuable other than music. But why not “Alexa, tell me what private data of mine you sent to Jeff Bezos?”
