The EMS Transparency bill, HB 264, passed the House 148-6 and Senate 51-0, but the bill died in reconciliation because a poison pill was added that nobody could support (gutting state ethics laws). We're very disappointed, but we will keep fighting for passage of HB 264 in 2020.

This is the last day of the legislative session. Among other things, we are concerned about HB 264, the EMS transparency bill. It's at the finish line, but we need some support from higher up to push it over. Can you call the Governor's office NOW? 404-656-1776 Script below!

"An arbitrary coverage restriction in SB 106 is setting Georgia up for lengthy delays or outright failure. ... the proposal could cost Georgia twice as much as alternative plans while covering only half as many Georgians" Sigh. We want healthcare, not arbitrary restrictions. 😫

Yep. This is why we try to have childcare available for our meetings.

This is one of the hidden costs of organizing for activist parents. It’s a big part of the reason why @Boston_DSA chose Childwatch & Intergenerational Organizing as one of our 2019 priorities, and why @RedSproutsNYC & @pghDSA’s Socialist Sprouts are so important. twitter.com/SusanLKang/sta…

Why Athens Transit Should Stop Charging Fares Reason #5: Increased ridership Removing the fare-box has increased ridership everywhere it has been tried, sometimes by 200% or more! This improves performance metrics like cost per rider, because riders go up while costs go down.

We support HB264 as a first step to reforming our broken EMS system in Georgia. Public health and safety shouldn't be subject to cronyism and corruption.
