I've unearthed some interesting things, but I don't know if I'll ever top this. Here's my story about finding a one-of-a-kind, personalized Atari prototype... plus an interview with its creator: GCC programmer Noelie Alito!

Still nothing. Tried running (via VecFlash) the VIA chip test .bin found here, and… it crashes the Vectrex. Not very promising!

First try was a failure — nothing displayed to screen. Starting from scratch and trying again, and hoping that the issue isn’t my Vectrex hardware. It wasn’t compatible with the VecMulti; I’m hoping that this isn’t the same thing all over again.

Had someone not pointed this auction out to me (after it ended) I might never have seen it. Someone out there got a really, really good deal.

How Not To Use eBay: auction a complete-in-box copy of Video Life (~20 copies were ever made!) without using the word Atari *anywhere* in the listing's title or description, upload a few cell phone photos, and don’t show the box in the main photo.

So, here's something worth checking out: You have an app store. It's plastic and metal. It runs on 9 volts. It's 1983. It's GAMELINE for the Atari 2600. This brochure was aimed at dealers and is a naked power grab for starting an online game store.

EP18. Former Atari VP Steve Calfee. Steve has rarely gone on record about his time at Atari. In his managerial role at the company’s coin-op division he oversaw the development of arcade smash hits such as Canyon Bomber, Space Duel, Missile Command and much more. Link in bio!

A well-researched look at who’s pulling the strings of the artificially inflated video game collecting scene. Sure would be nice if the came calling again…

I know what I’m postponing, because I can’t find the MicroSD I was going to use with this! So close…

New post! Come take a look to learn about the influence of Namco's Galaxian and how it created much of the development ecosystem which defined the 1980s. Like pixel art? Thank Galaxian.

It’s not perfect, but it’s gotta be the best I’ve seen in years. With this, I should now be able to take a certain photo that I’ve long wanted to set up. Maybe this weekend?

Atari 8-bit crew… recently uploaded a non-TOSEC A8 fileshare dump to — might be worth trawling through to see if anything might not already be preserved/catalogued!

Latest Atari Archive article live, with a deep look at Home Run! This is probably one of the few places you'll see anyone bring up the 60s computer game Bat Baseball online, so look for that.

A month or so I posted a link to a VHS documentary on Youtube that had a rare snippet with the creators of Custer's Revenge. The vid was made private, but I discovered my library had the DVD. So here's the clip again, now in better quality.

My retro-edutainment game Gene Medic programmed in 6502 assembly language for the Atari 2600. Save the patient by editing their DNA! Careful, some mutations are context-dependent!

This is the first video game that I can remember picking out for myself at a store (~1987, out of a Kiddie City metal clearance bin right inside the entrance). Definitely excited for this episode!

Fresh on the Atari Archive video channel, we've got Laser Blast! One of Activision's biggest sellers of the Atari era, this title is a visual treat and pretty easy to get sucked into... at least until your wrists start hurting.

New article up about the history of Atari's Hangman cartridge. I like that one of the few contemporary-ish reports of the game i could find is from 1982 and refers to it as "bland."
