A tale of two gloveboxes: I’ve worked in both of our science gloveboxes recently - with metal studies ⚙️ in one, and immune function research 🧪 in the other. Sometimes we simply swap samples that are monitored on the ground, and sometimes we’re more hands-on with the science.

Last week’s fire science was cool! 🔥I worked on our Combustion Integrated Rack, getting it ready for a continued study of cool flame chemistry. What we learn could lead to cleaner burning and more efficient internal combustion engines.

. I remember we went from shivering on the flight deck (due to cold soak before re-entry) to roasting in the Edwards sun in a short span of time! What an awesome flight on an amazing vehicle! Great flying with you !

Went into the BEAM (Bigelow Expandable Activity Module) to get some hardware nearly 5 years after its first opening. BEAM was attached to for an initial two years to demonstrate the expandable technology, and we've kept it to use for long-term storage ever since.

. moved in the next experiment, SUBSA-BRAINS, which looks at brazing in microgravity. Brazing, a technique that bonds materials at high temperatures, could be used to construct and repair vehicles and habitats on future space missions.

Turns out, hanging from the "ceiling" like a bat is sometimes the best way to work!🦇The Microgravity Science Glovebox is a contained area for liquids and combustion studies on . I removed one experiment and cleaned out the glovebox so the next study could start.

. and I are conducting an experiment called Celestial Immunity, which studies how gravity affects functional immune response. It could uncover new immune pathways useful for the development of new vaccines and drugs to prevent and treat diseases.

I didn't "grow up" doing the kind of lab work I'm doing on , so I'm glad to have an expert on the ground looking over my shoulder and talking me through it!

Looking forward to talking with Bruin Engineers at tomorrow! I had a few moments to try to capture Los Angeles from the cupola yesterday as we flew overhead, and luckily found the heart-shaped campus right in the center of my shot! Watch at 11am ET:
