I could not have lasted as a crime reporter but one thing it did teach me was, when memorializing what is often some of the worst days of ppls lives, it requires emotion. You have to care for the stories to read like it's something worth caring about

FWIW I feel that same way as a political strategist. I advocate for the things I care about because IGAF and have my whole career. Policies matter. They affect real people. And I have nothing but contempt for those who think politics is pure gamesmanship.
