Very concerned by the deadly clashes between Nigerian security forces and IMN members. We call on both sides to exercise restraint, and we urge the Government of Nigeria to conduct a thorough investigation & hold accountable those responsible for violating Nigerian law

The equivocating ‘both sides’ line suggests @AsstSecStateAF doesn’t grasp the key issue: the Nigerian military’s long-running, acute human rights deficiencies that complicate bilateral security cooperation and exacerbate 🇳🇬’s security challenges. Disappointing.

The murderous Nigerian army brutally murdered 60+ Shia civilians on a religious procession them used Trump Tweet of shooting Stone-throwing protesters to justify the massacre. @IntlCrimCourtpic.twitter.com/pzb1npVHap

Well if you are 'very concerned' Sir, one of the best approach is to call on the Nigerian Security Forces (the killing machine) to exercise restraint and stop the abuse/massacre of the IMN. Being evasive and economical with the truth is when you say 'both sides'.

This isn't the first time the #Nigerian military and/or #police have used deadly force on protesters or gatherings. This particular issue smells too much of sectarian hatred by dominant #Sunnis against a weak #Shia minority. The question is what will the US do?

I understand, but the United States has many powerful diplomatic tools, some of which may surprise you. What individual #Nigerians say on Twitter will likely have no effect on what they decide to do. They have more control over #Buhari and his army than what we know.

@reaDonaldTrump Has Nigeria got laws? Because as far as the people on the street are concerned, the Nigerian government respects no laws. Which means @AsstSecStateAF and @USEmbassyAbuja are supporting a brutal government. Shame to them, very dirty politicans.

"Both sides"? You mean Shiites protesting against the unlawful detention of their leader share in the blame? @realDonaldTrump really needs to drain the swamp of politically correct diplomats who make politically correct statements instead of calling a spade a spade.

Trump is too busy ordering their own soldiers to shoot at stone throwers so that's highly unlikely. Diplomats aren't the problem in this case

Both are wrong. The people he's advocating violence against aren't threatening any national borders. They're refugees coming to the border to seek asylum which is the internationally recognized process for asylum seeking
