SMS records from woman's phone released today show Assange was framed by police in sex case. https://justice4assange.com/assange-testimony … https://justice4assange.com/IMG/html/assange-statement-2016.html …pic.twitter.com/MO1qv3srQJ

Then why is he running? I thought he wanted to be a hero for his cause, but more and more he looks like a egotist seeking adulation.

The Swedish preliminary investigation was dropped last year. He has political asylum in relation to the US persecution, and Ecuador has requested the UK to issue a diplomatic assurance that it will allow him to leave safely, in accordance with his internationally protected status

Again, why is he running? He violated laws to the greater good. Having the US actually put him on the stand and try to defend all the actions Asante revealed would do more than cowardice.

Following your logic, I suppose you believe that political refugees all over the world are cowards and should just go to the countries that are trying to imprison them for their political activism because refusing to submit to their persecutors is cowardice. Am I getting warm?

Following my logic, there’s no comparison between actual political refugees that have challenged the status quo without the use of illegal tactics. If Asante wants to have further credibility not just in the world but in the court of law, he should go through the process

Hell, @xychelsea did, and she’s brave for doing so. And I respect her for that. Assange seems to excuse himself u see a bad premise of bad faith when such was created by him alone.

US authorities will only prosecute WikiLeaks at the expense of weakening the 1st amendment and doing away with the legislators' intentions entirely. WikiLeaks' right to publish is enshrined in international law. Hence prosecution must be resisted.

But wiki leaks isn’t the only venue where information has appeared, and nothing else has happened to other outlets that played that game. This argument has lost its appeal (ask the intercept about dealing with sensitive information as well)

Resist, sure. I’m all for you defending the right of people to know things. But it’s not without consequence or repercussions. It’s foolish to believe or act otherwise.
