I've read enough about the Cold War to know how many guerilla movements there were fighting against tyrannical governments. Many formed alliances with each other, others feuded and became rivals. Similar principle applies to activists today.

You have independent heroes like @tolokno and @xychelsea who work towards human rights for EVERYBODY and seek to dismantle the capitalist, warmongering and mass-imprisoning state ruining the world.

Then you have people like @davidhogg111 who, while commendable in their cause, are backed up with the full aegis of state organs against the #NRA, which is questionable since it just amounts to a rivalry between two factions of right-wing authoritarians.

Then you have Julian Assange and @MaxBlumenthal, who despite initially being on the right side of history, have opted for a nihilistic, multi-pariah state effort to bring down the American Empire at all costs.

Regardless of what tankies and fascists alike want you to believe, there were enormous differences between Yasser Arafat, Che & Castro, Kim, Mao, Mandela, and countless others. The affinity they all had was due to sheer coincidence.

Same with the affinity between Chun Doo Hwan, Kenan Evren, Yitzhak Shamir, Leopoldo Galtieri, and all the other US-backed tyrants. That's why the alliances mostly evaporated after 1991.

I guess my point is that I'm in favor of giving some crackpots the benefit of the doubt, especially when it's obvious they've "extended the theater" of their own personal crusades.

However, at a certain point, the differences between these various characters might become too obvious, and rifts will develop. One such rift was when Tolokno & Pussy Riot openly admitted that Assange was working for the Putin regime.

      Replying to @SharanskyWailer

She did not say "works for" she said "works with", referring to Assange's UK produced TV show broadcast on Russia Today in 2012. She subsequently apologiszed.

I believe everything you just said except the part about the apology. Working with RT sometimes doesn't automatically make someone a bad person. In a similar vein, I can't dismiss Mike Judge just because he was on Infowars once.
