Today, I convened the 1st Assembly #CaBudget committee hearing for the 2023-24 session, reviewing the Governor’s Jan 10 proposal. This kicks off months of hearings & negotiations in the months ahead, as we work toward a final spending plan by mid-June.

Glad to see will be using Gun Violence Restraining Orders even more to prevent tragedies. My 2019 bill, #AB61, expanded CA’s #RedFlag law to include schools & workplaces. Our #CaBudget also invested $11.5M in #GVRO training, education & outreach.
Big thanks to for honoring my work on #PFAS. We must get rid of these “forever chemicals” because they can seep into our drinking water, causing harm to our health & environment. I’ve successfully championed PFAS bans in food packaging (#AB1200) & fabrics (#AB1817).

February is #BlackHistoryMonth when we celebrate those who opened the doors toward a more inclusive society. The fight, however, is not over. We can honor their legacy by continuing the pursuit of equality & justice for all.

The weather did not dampen the fun at this year’s San Francisco #LunarNewYear parade! It was still fun to see the festive performances & floats. Best off all … great to feel the sense of community. Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate the #YearOfTheRabbit.

Honored to be part of Fri’s celebration where announced $200M in federal funding for the Presidio, which is in my district. It’ll help modernize the power grid & water/sewer pipes. This ensures the park’s long-term health so that generations can keep enjoying it.

Weekend fun idea: Come join the fun at the #LunarNewYear parade in San Francisco tomorrow. I will be in it again this year. If you see me, please wave! The festivities start at 5:15pm from Market & Montgomery.

Are you on #CalFresh? If you live in 1 of the 29 storm-impacted counties listed below, you can temporarily use your benefits to buy hot or prepared food at grocery stores/markets that accept EBT & p-EBT cards. My district (SF & San Mateo Counties) is included. Good thru 2/20/23.

The Electrification Project received another round of funding from the Transit & Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP). This time $367M. It’ll reduce greenhouse gas emissions, expand service & increase ridership. Exciting public transportation future for our region!

Today is #FredKorematsuDay, celebrating the civil rights leader who successfully challenged US policy to intern Japanese Americans. We honor his legacy by continuing to advance racial equity, social justice & human rights for all. Read more about him:

Today, I announced a new bill, #AB264, to allow CA community colleges to observe #LunarNewYear as a state holiday. We’re better as a society when we create opportunities for communities to learn about each other to encourage acceptance.

Grateful to our federal leaders for securing $400M from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to finish the seismic retrofitting of the Golden Gate Bridge, located in my district. This increases the span’s earthquake resiliency, which is vital to commuters & businesses relying on it.

Horrific shooting on the eve of the Lunar New Year in #MontereyPark. On a night where families are celebrating with loved ones to usher in the new year, we have a tragedy leaving the community in shock. We mourn the loss of life & this senseless violence.

Wrapped up the 2023 Bay Area Caucus Summit with a tour of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. It was cold but fun! Can’t wait to get back to the Capitol to tackle the policy issues we discussed over the last couple of days. Stay tuned.

Our 2023 Bay Area Caucus Summit is off to a great start - we’re discussing critical issues such as homelessness, affordable housing, mental health, drought, & transit. These excellent panels help inform various policy conversations and ideas through the year.

Unrepresented workers in my district are trying to unionize. With help from The District Council of Iron Workers, they rallied this morning in Daly City to fight for better wages & employee benefits. #UnionStrong
