. suggests: close live animal markets that sell ; strengthen efforts to combat trafficking of wild animals internally and cross-border; and work to change dangerous wildlife consumption behaviors, esp in cities. I agree (this is more nuanced than below)

New paper: Tropical mammals have lost on average 40% of their original distribution due to the combined effect of hunting pressure and human land use. Read it today:

Upper panels show range size reductions due to hunting (red), land use (purple), and both pressures combined (yellow) for the brown-headed spider monkey (Ateles fusciceps), Lowe’s monkey (Cercopithecus lowei) and Sulawesi babirusa (Babyrousa celebensis, from left to right). Lower panels show the cumulative area loss of 1,884 tropical mammal species due to land use and hunting pressure, relative to the cumulative area

Maybe, if used with care. We tried as deterrents in Sumatra but the hives attracted adding another human-wildlife conflict (HWC) problem! Bees unlikely to be a remedy at the scale needed. There are no silver bullet for HWC, and prevention better than cure
