“We believe that this woman very well could be my friend Jim’s future wife. We don’t know her name, just that she was hot, thirsty, kind, and sturdy — which checks all the boxes for Jim’s ideal mate.” Wishing this strong and helpful lady and the dude she lifted much happiness

Interesting moment: Ryan at first was booed at Fox town hall when he said a police officer was killed Jan. 6. He went on to say rioters wanted to overthrow the gov't and kill Pence -- “I don’t care what your politics are, but Americans should say ‘No!’ -- and he was applauded.

One of the midterm's biggest radio blitzes is a series of provocative ads about transgender care and "anti-white bigotry" from Stephen Miller & his allies. The spots have run in 24 markets and account for about 15% of all GOP radio ads in the past month: nytimes.com/2022/11/01/us/

I don’t actually believe that both sides being mad at you means you’re doing something right. BUT if I did subscribe to that theory, I’d be on a helluva run right now… 🔥

Most American high school students fear it. Keegan Gregory lived it. Last November, he found himself face-to-face with a school shooter. This is the story of what happened next. si.com/high-school/20

Last year, Kevin McCarthy joked that if he became the next leader of the House, “it will be hard not to hit” Nancy Pelosi with the speaker’s gavel. Then, on Friday, a man broke into Pelosi’s house and attacked her husband w a hammer.

How the Friday morning attack on Speaker Pelosi’s husband felt like the all-but-inevitable culmination of more than a decade of vilification of the most powerful woman in Congress. My story, w + .

As Adam Laxalt, the Republican candidate for Senate in Nevada, ambled along a throng of Trump supporters at a recent rally and posed for pictures, it was his campaign’s communications director, Courtney Holland, who was really working the crowd.

Within an hour last night, a 13-year-old and a 4-year-old were shot in D.C., per the police department. It looks like they will both survive, but the effects of being shot at such a young age are impossible to quantify.

This was one of at least four shootings in D.C. on Monday night alone. “Those could be homicides but for marksmanship,” Chief Contee said. twitter.com/ELaserDavies/s…

Okay, some personal news: I'm thrilled to be returning to @POLITICO to cover the White House and help helm West Wing Playbook. It's an exciting time there and I can't wait to be part of the team. Carpooling to work, also a plus!

My take on the nuanced tale the Jan.6 committee sought to tell: Trump was NOT an angry king or reckless madman— caught up in the emotion of the day — or a mere hapless bystander, unaware of the destruction he wrought. He was executing a pre-meditated plan.

Trump was a leader who knew he had lost — who was repeatedly told he had lost and who privately admitted he had lost — yet who plunged ahead with a calculated and deliberate plan that shook the foundations of the very democracy he had sworn to uphold.
