    One year on from the tragic shooting in Atlanta and just this week another unconscionable attack took place in NYC. The city feels less and less safe for Asians and Asian Americans.

    Today marks one year since a shooter killed eight people at Asian-American owned spas in Atlanta. Unfortunately, hate-based violence against the AAPI community is alive and well in NYC. We urgently need to invest in AAPI communities' safety & well-being.

    Curiously, did not make a statement at the UNSC meeting today on Russia's allegations of biological military activities in . It was the only member to not do so by my count despite chairing the meeting as UNSC president for the month.

    UAE position on continues to evolve in NY, too. Its role as UNSC president for March means there are lower stakes decisions it'll have to make--e.g. on how quickly to convene emergency meetings, agreeing to proposed speakers--which will put spotlight on Abu Dhabi again

    There've been several tense recent UNSC mtgs on but today was the first time Russia went on the offensive & called for a mtg rather than playing defense. US & China also traded barbs for 1st time Tough times ahead at the UN if Moscow dials up the brutality on the ground

    At UNSC mtg on Russia's allegations of "military biological activities" in , outlines impact 3 wks of war has had on civilians, violations committed by Russia incl use of cluster munitions, bombing of hospital in Mariupol. Welcomes diplomatic efforts.

    US, UK not the only ones suggesting Russian accusations might be cover for Russian use of chemical weapons. France:

    .'s also says "no one is fooled by Russia's lies", calls it a "smokescreen" and states fears that Russia could plan to use chemical or biological weapons in Ukraine.
