As we fret about the future of SCOTUS, let's not lose sight of the silver lining here – that the Bernie Bros and Jill Stein voters who refused to vote for HRC never had to compromise their principles. 🙄

I think I'm more mad at those people (and I loved Bernie!) than I am the Trump supporters themselves. At least we know who they are (even though I disagree with them entirely). The Stein and Bernie or Bust crew literally threw their votes away, thereby throwing them to Drumpf.

I’m curious, do you believe it was that straightforward? That voting 3rd party is what led to the mess we’re witnessing now? From my view, there are many factors that led to HRC not getting elected.

No def don't think it was that straightforward. But in my state, Michigan, she lost by a super narrow margin. If you added up 3rd party votes ... that would have closed the margin. She was not a perfect choice,I know that. But "conscience voting" is a big part of how we got here.

I live in California, did Hillary need more popular votes? Millions of voters votes had no effect.

In California, no. But in Michigan, absolutely. 10,000 votes was the margin for Trump here b/c 51,000 voted Stein.

It's hard to not be bitter knowing that Jill Stein's campaign took money from the Russians. And what exactly did she accomplish?

I'd like to see Stein-Russia proven, but I understand the bitterness. What I don't understand is not getting over the bitterness and focusing on the business at hand. The house is on fire. It's not the time to argue over whether you should have left those oily rags on the heater.

Votes not based in reality are irresponsible. If confronting people with the fact that their intellectual superiority is more important to them than the welfare of the community makes them uncomfortable, good. Perhaps they'll make more responsible choices next time.

"Votes not based in reality are irresponsible." Absolutely agree, and I usually love Asha's point of view but this tweet is just a random slam against berniecrats, unprompted. One thing I've learned about berniecrats in the last 2 years is that you won't shame sense into them.

It's not exactly random: we've been body slammed by bad news this week. I agree that tearing each other apart isn't productive, but it's important that people take ownership of the roles they've played in getting us where we are. Cautionary tales and all that…
