    Today we increased the number of vaccinations by 10,846. To stop the spread of the Delta variant, we must multiply that success every day. I will be in Heber Springs at 6 p.m. today for another Community COVID Conversation.

    During the first phase of COVID-19, hospitalizations generally went down over the weekend. The increase of 61 hospitalizations on Sunday is a blunt indicator that the Delta Variant is more transmissible & increases the likelihood of hospitalizations if you don’t have the vaccine.

    Today’s increase of 44 hospitalizations is a reflection of a Delta Variant that will not be tamed until more get vaccinated. I can only imagine the strain on our health care workers. Susan and I got fully vaccinated, and we consider it a life saver.

    The good news is that we have no new deaths in today’s COVID report, but the increase in hospitalizations and active cases is a trend we must turn around. The increase in cases will only stop when we follow guidelines and get the vaccine shot. The vaccine keeps people alive.
